Description:

Jeremy Clarkson sets off to the South of France on a mission to find the fastest, the sexiest and the most exciting car of the year. The car that has that certain "Je ne sais quoi".

His destination is the Paul Ricard Circuit û the high-tech testing ground for Formula One based in the mountains fifty miles inland from Marseilles. To find out just how fast these cars can perform on the track, Clarkson will be joined by current Formula One Team Lotus Test driver Karun Chandhok, one of the fastest young drivers in the world.

The candidates to become Clarkson's favourite car include a pair of Ferraris û the V12, 6.3 litre FF and the 458. There's also the UK challenger to the 458 û McLaren's MP4-12C which faces an all-new rival.

Joining the action are the latest gizmo-laden Nissan GTR, Porsche's GT2 RS, the 570-horsepower Lamborghini Performante and the insanely fun BMW 1M.

And there are blasts from the past as well û with bang up to date credentials; the awesome Eagle Speedster û the modern twist on the iconic, timeless E-Type. It has a 4.7 litre engine and an eye-watering ú670,000 price tag. Plus, from the minds of boffins at a German museum, there's the mighty Brutus...a vintage car fitted with a flame-spitting BMW plane engine.

From up North in Englandshire, there's enough in-your-face power to flambÚ your eyebrows from the single-seater, super-lightweight B.A.C. Mono û capable of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.

But it's not all about performance on the track. He takes to the open road to see if small can be beautiful. He squeezes his sizeable know-how into the bonkers Citroen DS3 Racing, the pocket rocket Abarth 500C and the dinky Renault Clio Cup.

Special Feature: Exclusive Behind the Scenes film.
