Description:

Now touring car fans can travel back in time and re-live the highlights of improved production and series production racing from Warrick Farm and Sandown Raceways with this amazing footage-straight from the original ABC live TV coverage:

1973 SOUTH PACIFIC TOURING CAR SERIES (B&W)

Travel back in time to one of the fi rst races for the new Group C touring car category at SydneyÆs rain-soaked Warwick Farm circuit in February 1973. The South Pacifi c Touring Car Series served as the major tin-top support show for the Tasman Series in those days. Many cars struggled to stay on the road here for round two, as rally ace Colin Bond displayed his mastery of the atrocious conditions in the HDT Torana GTR XU-1. John GossÆs new XA Falcon GT Hardtop looked like an elephant compared to the nimble Toranas, as he manhandled the big V8 beast around this challenging track in a classic 20-lap confrontation.

1983 AUSTRALIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP (Colour)

Group C touring car racing featured big name drivers in a variety of makes and models that produced some of the most exciting and unpredictable motor sport Australia has seen. This 35-lap race from PerthÆs Wanneroo Park was round four of the 1983 ATCC battle shown live on ABC Sport and kept everyone guessing about a winner, right up until the chequered fl ag. See an intriguing battle unfold between Dick JohnsonÆs Falcon, Peter BrockÆs Commodore, Allan MoffatÆs Mazda RX7 and George FuryÆs Nissan Bluebird, before Moffat makes a lightning pit stop for a splash of fuel and a typically determined bid for victory in the fi nal laps.

1984 AUSTRALIAN ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP (Colour)

This was the last year of AustraliaÆs homegrown Group C touring car category, before it was replaced with international Group A. These wild-looking machines with their huge front and rear spoilers, wide wheel fl ares and fat tyres may have reached the end of the road, but they sure went out with a bang. The fi nal year of Group C featured some great battles, including this second round of the 1984 AEC held at SydneyÆs Oran Park. This superb vision, taken directly from the ABCÆs live telecast of the 100 lap event, captures all the colour and excitement of an enthralling battle between many of the greats including Moffat, Johnson, Grice, Harvey, Richards, Fury and lots more.
